The council is working in partnership with the Local Resilience Forum – involving all public sector organisation in the county – to look at issues of business continuity and mutual aid. In addition, the countywide Strategic Co-ordinating Group is establishing a Community Reference group, to support vulnerable people.

As a public sector organization, the County Council follows government guidance.

From today, council committee meetings have been cancelled. Guidance has been issued to staff and councillors over the age of 70 or with long-term health conditions.

Government guidance is expected shortly on decision-making processes – making decisions without the normal rules of meeting physically in person and with public participation.

The council is working on plans for continuing to deliver its public services in changing circumstances.

Separate guidance is now being provided to schools.
Regular detailed updates are sent to councillors.

I’m forwarding these on to parish council chairs and clerks.

You can check out the council’s public website for information updates, too.

The unofficial stuff: Locally, your councillors are there to help signpost to accurate information and advice in support of our residents – and especially the most vulnerable. It’s been amazing to feel the rising tide of neighbourhood support networks. If you’d like to help your neighbour, or if you need help from a neighbour, please feel free to contact us – we will try and link you up with a local network where you live, or help set one up.
