GREATER CAMBRIDGE LOCAL PLAN
The government inspector requires South Cambs District Council to embark on a new joint Local Plan with Cambridge City and this is now getting underway. The first piece of work has been to ask landowners to come forward and tell the council about any land they are prepared to offer up for future development.
Not all the sites submitted will be included in the plan: this will depend on the spatial strategy the council decides on, and the assessment of the sites based on several factors including whether they are suitable, available, achievable, and viable. The selected sites will then go through the Local Plan process and become part of the adopted policy when the plan is found sound and adopted.
Within the ‘Melbourn and Bassingbourn County Division’, the County Council has submitted a number of sites for consideration in Bassingbourn, Whaddon and Melbourn. I have forwarded the relevant site maps to our parish councils, but they are not yet published (although they are in the public domain). The Local Plan webpage is here – please note that you can login to consultation databases by area of interest, and more detailed including all representations will be available soon, and this will be the site where you can keep informed.
Meanwhile I have uploaded the relevant maps here.Leave a comment
