by Susan van de Ven on 9 April, 2017

May 4 is Election Day for all Cambridgeshire County Council Divisions (but not South Cambs District Council). This ushers in new boundary configurations, taking effect straight away after the election.

If you are not registered to vote, this needs to be done by April 13, and can be done on-line

If you will be away or unable to vote at your polling station on May 4th, you can apply for a postal or proxy vote .
The deadlines for these are April 18 and 25, respectively.

Foxton, Shepreth, Heydon and Great and Little Chishill will join with Fowlmere, Thriplow Village, Thriplow Heathfield, Whittlesford, Duxford, Pampisford, Ickleton and Hinxton to form the new ‘Duxford Division’. Peter MacDonald is the Liberal Democrat candidate. He lives in the Division, works in agriculture, and has been actively surveying residents and knocking on doors for many months.

Meldreth, Melbourn, Whaddon and Bassingbourn will join to form the new ‘Melbourn and Bassingbourn Division’. Susan van de Ven is the Liberal Democrat candidate. She has represented Melbourn and Meldreth for many years, and has been getting to know Bassingbourn and Whaddon over the past several months.

A new mayor will also be elected. If you’d like to meet the Lib Dem candidate Rod Cantrill, a Cambridge-based businessman who has worked on South Cambs transport issues and is keen to put new bus franching powers into action for rural transport needs.

Please let Susan know if you’d like to meet any of these candidates.
