Village groups
If you run a village group and would like help advertising an event or recruiting volunteer helpers, please let Susan know and she would be glad to include a few lines in her monthly community e-newsletter.
Foxton Village website: www.foxtoncambs.info.
Susan regularly attends parish council meetings and her reports are included in parish council minutes.
Level Crossing concerns
Following the spate of concerns around safety at the level crossing, including frequent closures of the pedestrian gates, I’ve been assigned an officer at Network Rail to deal with specific queries – so please let me know if you have anything you’d like to have relayed to NWR.
Foxton Station flower tubs
The new tubs look great, thanks to a summer of watering by volunteers and of course the primary school’s excellent planting work last spring. Winter planting has now taken place and we are always thinking ahead to the next season. Please get in touch if you’d like to contribute in any way – all offers of help greatly appreciated..
Shepreth Road: winter gritting
Shepreth Road has been added to winter gritting list. This follows the County Council’s decision to include all regularly scheduled commercial bus routes on the list.
West Hill Road Mobile Library Stop
Thanks to residents of West Hill Road who took the trouble to get in touch, the County Council will not be removing West Hill Road from the Mobile Library Route.
Foxton Station cycle racks
We’d like to thank Cambridgeshire County Council for providing the racks, the land to put them on, and the installation of four double-sided cycle racks at the top of Station Road near the station. This is not intended to be a solution to Foxton Station’s cycle parking facilities (especially imporant for a station without a car park), but to help alleviate pressure. This job has taken less than a year – lighting speed in the modern age of bureaucracy!
Pot hole reporting
The most effective way of getting pot holes sorted is to email direct to street.scene@cambridgeshire.gov.uk.
Royston and District Community Transport scheme
If you are elderly or mobility impaired, and need lifts to the doctor’s or to get shopping done, you could benefit from the Royston and District Community Transport scheme.
A fleet of volunteer drivers donate their time free of charge. Passengers contribute 45 pence per mile; the minimum charge is £4 per journey of up to nine m. The scheme also operates a wheelchair-accessible 12/16 seat minibus and a four-six seat Multi-Purpose Vehicle.
The service can be used for health care appointments, day centres, special needs clubs, social purposes and shopping.
If you require a lift – or would like to volunteer as a driver – please text or phone 01763-245228 between 9AM and 3PM Monday to Friday; an answer phone will take a message if the phone is unmanned. (Please don’t be put off by the answer phone – it does get checked regularly!) You can also email the service at rct1@totalise.co.uk.
