‘Catastrophe’

by Susan van de Ven on 25 June, 2016

On three occasions in the run-up to the Referendum, Shepreth resident Professor Chris Grey, who teaches Organizational Studies at Royal Holloway, spoke in our community about Brexit and What Next for UK Trade. This took place once at Meldreth Elin Way Sheltered Housing, once at Foxton Village Hall, and once at the Shepreth Plough. The talks were widely publicized and open to all. Not a politician but an expert in the field, Chris outlined the scenarios that could play out if the UK voted Leave.

There was something to learn every time, through the different questions that were asked. Some said that they hadn’t known until hearing the talk how they would vote. One woman cried, lamenting how little she knew and understood when she had walked through the doors before the start.

24 hours after the Leave result was announced, here’s what Chris had to say.

Very interesting, very true and so sad. So great, though, that you organised these talks.
